Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) leader Lalduhoma was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Mizoram on December 8. The ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan where Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati administered the oath of office and secrecy to Lalduhoma. Along with the former IAS officer, eleven other ZPM leaders were also administered the oath as ministers. Of the 11, 7 took oaths as cabinet ministers and 6 as ministers of state. The seven legislators who took oath as cabinet ministers are ZPM working president K Sapdanga, Vanlalhlana, C. Lalsawivunga, Lalthansanga, Vanlalthlana, PC Vanlalruata and Lalrinpuii as the only woman minister in the new cabinet. Those who took oath as ministers of state (independent charge) include F Rodingliana, B Lalchhanzova, Lalnilwama and Lalnghinglova Hmar.
Mizo National Front leader and outgoing Chief Minister Zoramthanga along with all MNF MLAs were present during the ceremony. Former Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla was also present at the event.
The ZPM, which was registered as a political party only in 2019, emerged victorious in the Assembly elections bagging 27 seats, increasing its tally from 8 in the 2018 polls.
